Women’s Retreat 2022

Find Us Faithful

By Mary Carpenter and Rose Moog

The Retreat was hosted by Shasta Baptist Ladies in Mc Arthur, California.

There were ladies from Gerber, Palo Cedro and Mc Arthur in attendance.

Director Bethany Bohrer was there to welcome us.

Thanks to Bethany and volunteers, the room was decorated by cutouts depicting the theme of family. Cutouts decorated the tables along with tiny lights.

The theme for the Ladies Retreat 2022 was 2 Timothy 2:2

“And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful (ones) who will be able to teach others also”

Be Faithful in Advance

Carol references in this article are to Carol Bennett.

Our guest speaker was Carol Bennett. On occasion I have heard guest speakers for small groups and they make you yawn! Carol Bennett does not make you yawn. She is a fascinating speaker that keeps you engaged. She was so personable and well spoken her time went by fast.

She told us about David. God picked David, a young shepherd to be the king of Israel. He was living a quiet life in a pasture tending his flock when God spoke to him. God anointed David as king. King Saul did not like David being made king while he was still alive. King Saul hunted David. David spent time living in caves hiding from King Saul. God spoke to David again in the caves.

David learned to trust God while he was in those caves.

God looks after you. Like David sometimes you get green pastures and sometimes you get the cave.

In Mathew 12 verse 28 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

God is bigger than your problem.

Carol passed out sheets with rainbow paper on top.

Lamentations 3:22-23

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassion fails not.

God is love.

His love never leaves us. God loves us because we are His children.

Psalms 51:1 Psalms 100:5

God is faithful He always wants what’s best for us.

Jeremiah 29:11

God is faithful because he keeps his promises.

There were three pages of Bible verses we could read in relation to God’s promise.

Stones of Remembrance was a challenge to remember a time God was faithful to you.

We had a nice dinner cooked by Tom Moog and served by Pastor John Bohrer head of the Shasta Baptist Association and New Life Baptist Church.

Ice cream sundaes were served.

Saturday

A buffet style breakfast from Tom and Pastor was impressive with fresh baked biscuits and homemade sausage gravy.

Find Us Faithful

Be faithful in advance.

We do not age out of the Baptist church.

We will serve the Lord.

The emphasis was on the family and teaching children to be faithful to God. Children learn by example.

Carol Bohrer taught us about mentors and disciples.

Mentor is a person outside the family that teaches you something.

Disciple teaches you about religion.

Parents should be a spiritual mentor. Being a disciple and mentor should go hand in hand when raising your children.

Matthew 28 18-20

Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to be. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.”

As you are going make disciples.

Faithfulness

How to practice faithfulness without being a Pharisee. I admit I had to look Pharisee up. It is a member of a particular Jewish sect.

2 Timothy 2:2 What you have heard from me commit faithful men who will be able to teach others also. CSB

Soldier

Faithful people want to obey and please God, not others.

2 Timothy 2:3 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs but rather tries to please the commanding officer.

Athlete

Faithful people follow God’s laws with grateful heart

2 Timothy 2:5 similarly anyone who competes as an athlete dose not receive the Victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.

Farmer

Faithful people sow what they have been given.

2 Timothy 2:6 The hardworking farmer should be the first receive a share of the crops.

1 Corinthians 13:13 and now these three remain Faith, Hope and Love but the greatest of these is Love.

Craft Project

We had a lot of fun with the craft project. Carol Bohrer brought a large box of craft supplies for us to dig into. There were picture frames to frame our ideas. Keeping with theme we were told to make a representation of family and incorporate 2 Timothy 2:2 “And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful (ones) who will be able to teach others also.”

There were some very creative ladies there and their designs were beautiful.
